Ride Reports
Cinema: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
We headed to Vue Plymouth for Rogue One, a tense prequel about the rebels who steal the Death Star plans. Everyone enjoyed it, though Michael noted how the franchise keeps circling the same set‑pieces, a reminder that the familiar Star Wars formula still rules.

Christmas Lunch: Edgemoor Hotel
A frosty start and a smooth run to the Edgemoor Hotel for Christmas lunch, but the day turned on a long wrangle when we were billed full prices instead of the agreed £21. The £2.80 blackcurrant and soda said it all; dispute resolved, we headed back as the light faded.
Pre-Christmas special
Our pre-Christmas social shifted from Charades to a marathon Monopoly, with George the eventual winner after securing Mayfair and Park Lane while the rest repeatedly landed on them. A friendly evening of luck and collective groans at the roll of the dice.

South Dartmoor Christmas reunion
Though Julian had to leave just as others arrived, the Christmas reunion became a calm afternoon of conversation and Michael’s newly edited tour videos. It closed with a clear outcome: plans for a reunion cycle ride in June.
Pool: Plymouth
An easygoing social evening: we drove to Plymouth and played three games of pool at Tenpin.
Pool: Plymouth
A low-key club social saw us drive to Plymouth for a friendly round-robin at Tenpin, six games so everyone played everyone. Shared desserts at Pizza Hut rounded it off, and we got home later than planned.

Holne
Jude’s first club ride was meant to be gentle, but Dillan and George led him up the steep climb to Holne, which he conquered. After the café, we tried Tao’s Gallant Le Bower track—muddy at first but now blissfully gate‑free—and a harmless spill in the Park rounded off the day.
Pizza Hut: Plymouth Barbican
A relaxed social evening moved from pizzas at Pizza Hut in Plymouth to competitive air hockey at Tenpin. Dillan beat Michael, Michael beat George, and Dillan expected to beat George too—only for the result to surprise him.

Ashprington
A nostalgic spin through familiar lanes to Ashprington was defined by the now-tarmacked path to Totnes, fast, smooth and full of Dart views. Along the way came a veteran’s tale of a starting pistol for a dog and, at Morrisons, jam-laden doughnuts that tested John’s resolve.
Games evening
The younger members spent the evening playing Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance, while John and Michael planned the club’s 2017 Easter Tour to North Cornwall.

Templer Way cycle path
Tao led a day built around exploring the newly completed Templer Way, with a first ride over the A38 bridge and its quiet, leafy approach to Newton Abbot. Mud by Bradly Manor meant a river rinse before a sunny detour through Ipplepen.
Games evening
The youngsters spent the entire games evening on the PC network, playing Forged Alliance from start to finish.
